Webinar: Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has published its final rule outlining new requirements for the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP), which Congress enacted as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Medicare penalties for facilities with high 30-day risk-adjusted readmissions rates will take effect in October 2012 for three initial target conditions, and CMS plans to expand the program into 2013 and beyond. Commercial payors are likely to follow suit.

In this Webinar, you will learn what the rule means for your organization - now and in the future - and the recommended steps to reduce preventable readmissions, minimize impact to reimbursement and improve the health of your patient population.

This Webinar includes:

  • Interpretation of the HRRP by a governmental affairs expert and review of the penalties/revenue impact for different size facilities
  • Discussion of best practices for discharge transition and care coordination from a clinician and Lean performance expert who has real-world experience building and sustaining readmissions programs that extend beyond a hospital’s four walls

  • Bill Richburg, M.S., FHFMA, Director of Government Programs, MedAssets
As Director of Government Programs, Mr. Richburg focuses on Medicare reimbursement and leads a multidisciplinary team of Medicare, TRICARE, CHAMPVA, Medicaid and Workers’ Compensation subject matter experts.
